Artist Statement

My fears stem from personal struggles with life.  I understand and express this journey through movement. I am a black woman on the verge of graduation ready to fulfill my potential.  Twelve years in study, discovering my gift with dance, has inspired the creation of my unique movement language and voice. Elements is my movement style that incorporates contemporary vocabulary and improvisation, uplifting one’s sensual individuality.

My work is personal. It is about expressing and accepting the way we move through life. Creating Fear? was cathartic at this point in my life. Distance, change, and letting go are my personal fears and in the center of each of these is love. Getting to know myself is a forever journey. I want my work to speak peace to our souls and guide us to true happiness and success.  Let’s find the good and bad in situations and believe in our instinctual wisdom. I know that my full potential is a courageous movement through fear. I will run forward.
